Employment opportunities have been provided to differently abled people making them feel as “normal” and assisting them to live a life without been dependant on others. Currently we have 03 staff members in our permanent cadre who are differently abled. Special benefits such as special lump sum payments to procure medical devices, time off from work to receive the required medical treatments, etc are given to them as and when necessary.

We work hand in hand with the Kelanimulla Villagers to uplift their educational levels, and contribute immensely towards the infrastructure facilities of the village. The company organized an alms giving to all villagers who observed sill on the Wesak Poya Day at the temple close to the company premises. Temple premise is cleaned prior to every Poya day providing a better environment to those who observe sill in the temple on Poya day. The Company has already donated towards the development of the drainage system in the village and is in the process of contributing towards the development of the temple premises.

The Company also provides job training to students around the vicinity who get through their Advanced/ Ordinary Level Examinations successfully, during the interim period of them deciding on the next level of their further studies programmes. In fact this is a very valuable opportunity for them as it enables them to gather many experiences while being employed at Empire Teas which will definitely be helpful to them to be absorbed by good employers in the future once studies are completed.

In addition to the above, the Company contributes to the special events ( Wesak “Bakthi Gee”, Avurudu Ulela, Musical Shows, etc) organized by the Town Council and other registered Sports Associations in the Kelanimulla area. Annual pilgrimage of the Senior Citizen Association of the village was also sponsored by the Company for the 2nd time in 2012.

In previous years too the Company has made many other contributions towards such worthy causes such as arranging blood donation campaigns, donating wheel chairs to Ranaviru sevana, etc.
